# Create Cancellation Types

> Learn how to create cancellation types for standardized booking cancellation tracking in FlightWise

Cancellation types provide standardized reasons for cancelled bookings, enabling better operational analysis and pattern recognition. This guide shows how to create custom cancellation types for your
organization.

## Creating a New Cancellation Type

Follow these steps to create a cancellation type:

1. **Navigate to Cancellation Types**
   * Open the sidebar menu
   * Click on "Bookings"
   * Select "Cancellation Types" from the submenu
   * The cancellation types management page will open

2. **Start Creation Process**
   * Click "Add Cancellation Type" button in the top right corner
   * The cancellation type form will appear

## Configuration Options

3. **Enter Cancellation Details**

   **Name**: Descriptive reason for cancellation

   * Be specific for better tracking
   * Examples:
     * "Weather - Low Clouds"
     * "Weather - High Winds"
     * "Aircraft - Maintenance Issue"
     * "Student - No Show"
     * "Instructor - Sick"
     * "Operations - Runway Closed"

   **Resource Type**: What bookings can use this cancellation

   * **All**: Available for any booking type
   * **Aircraft**: Only for aircraft bookings
   * **Simulator**: Only for simulator bookings
   * **Classroom**: Only for classroom bookings

4. **Save the Cancellation Type**
   * Click "Save" to create the type
   * The type is immediately available for use

## Using Cancellation Types

When cancelling a booking:

1. Open the booking details
2. Click "Cancel Booking"
3. Select the appropriate cancellation type from the dropdown
4. The standardized reason is recorded for reporting
