Aircraft defects must be properly resolved to maintain airworthiness and compliance. This guide shows how to mark defects as resolved once they have been fixed.

Resolving a Defect

Follow these steps to mark an aircraft defect as resolved:
  1. Navigate to Aircraft Defects
    • Go to the Aircraft page in the administrator portal
    • Select the aircraft with the defect you need to resolve
    • In the aircraft sidebar, click on “Defects”
  2. Identify Unresolved Defects
    • Unresolved defects are easily identifiable:
      • Do NOT have a green background
      • Display a pulsing duration indicator showing how long the defect has been open
      • May show grounding status if the defect affects airworthiness
  3. Access Resolution Options
    • Locate the defect row you want to resolve
    • On the right side of the row, click the ellipsis button (⋯)
    • This will open the options dropdown menu
  4. Mark as Resolved
    • From the dropdown menu, click “Resolve”
    • The defect will be immediately marked as resolved
    • The system records the resolution timestamp

Visual Indicators

Resolved Defects

  • Green background: Indicates the defect has been resolved
  • Resolution date: Shows when the defect was marked as resolved
  • No duration indicator: Static display without pulsing animation

Unresolved Defects

  • Standard background: No green highlighting
  • Pulsing duration: Animated indicator showing time since defect occurred
  • Active status: May affect aircraft availability for booking

Important Considerations

Before Resolving

  • Verify Repair: Ensure the defect has been actually fixed or addressed
  • Documentation: Confirm all necessary maintenance records are complete
  • Authorization: Only resolve defects you have authority to clear
  • Safety Check: Verify the aircraft is safe for operation

After Resolution

  • Aircraft Status: The aircraft may become available for booking again
  • Audit Trail: Resolution is permanently recorded with timestamp
  • Reporting: Resolved defects appear in maintenance and safety reports
  • Compliance: Maintains proper record-keeping for regulatory requirements

Best Practices

  • Only mark defects as resolved when repairs are actually complete
  • Ensure proper authorization before resolving safety-critical defects
  • Use the defect resolution feature promptly after repairs to maintain accurate aircraft status
  • Review resolved defects regularly for patterns or recurring issues
The defect resolution system ensures accurate tracking of aircraft airworthiness while maintaining comprehensive maintenance records for regulatory compliance.
